Overview
Myrenos is the smallest and weakest of the Free Cities, and the most accidental. It was a fishing village that grew into a city by geography rather than design: its harbor sits where the sea lanes want a harbor to be, and the trade that passed through it slowly made a town, and then a city, out of a place that had only ever meant to land fish. It still looks the part. Its central plaza is a fishing city's plaza, practical and built for commerce, and its fleets are fishing boats before they are anything else.
A city that holds a crucial harbor with no army to speak of survives by being convenient. Myrenos keeps a coastal patrol and little more, and its larger neighbors have found it cheaper to take tribute from Myrenos than to take Myrenos. House Myrenos, the founding line, is gone from the seat. The city is ruled by House Malin, and in the present age by Petros Malin, who inherited it and has been nervous ever since.
